Conservation through
Sustainable Eco-tourism.
Sarmila Sarkar
Sarmila Sarkar is a local folk artist who has been working with RET since 2012, using folk songs to champion Sundarbans conservation. Her music weaves together the beauty and vulnerability of the mangrove forest, raising awareness among local communities and visitors alike. Today, she also serves as a Community Host, welcoming people who come to experience the Sundarbans and sharing her deep, song-filled connection to this unique landscape.
Rupantor Eco Tourism Ltd (RET) was born not from a business plan, but from a belief that the Sundarbans deserves to be experienced, protected, and celebrated on its own terms.
In the early 2000s, long before "eco-tourism" became a trend, RET began quietly, without logistics systems or industry support, powered only by passion and a deep conviction in the living culture of the world's largest mangrove delta. Founded by Nazmul Azam David an NGO worker, social activist, and lifelong advocate for the Sundarbans , RET set out to train local communities to welcome visitors not as spectators, but as guests in a living world.
Today, RET operates from its base in Khulna, running responsible, community-rooted cruises aboard its flagship vessel Udaytara. Every member of the team from the captain to the cook, the accountant to the guide is part of a decade-long family that has grown together in service of one shared purpose: to let the Sundarbans speak for itself.
Our Vision
A Sundarbans that endures where responsible tourism becomes a force for conservation, community prosperity, and cultural pride, passed down through generations.
Our Mission
To practice and promote community-based, sustainable tourism in the Sundarbans; empowering local people as custodians of their ecosystem, and offering travelers a genuine, meaningful connection to one of the world's most extraordinary places.

M.V. UDAYTARA
M.V. Udaytara is built for deep mangrove navigation — engineered for the narrow creeks, shifting tides, and dense waterways of the Sundarbans delta. Designed for intimate small-group safaris and community cruising, she carries a crew of 6 to deliver a personal, expert-led experience at every bend of the river. With 7 air-conditioned sleeping berths, nights aboard are as comfortable as the days are wild.

Country Boat
We provide country boat (dinggi) safaris for deeper exploration of the mangrove channels. Our dinggis are equipped with safety gear and operated by experienced local guides to ensure a safe and immersive experience.
